Alaska

I spent the summer working for a glacier helicopter tour company. I insisted on figuring out what the Last Frontier was all about.

A sunny summer day in the mountains of Alaska.

Due to a fall first day for my entry-level job at Salesforce, I found myself with a free summer before starting in SF. I was able to find a seasonal job in Palmer, Alaska, working on a ground crew for a helicopter tour company. Our job descriptions centered around hot fueling and passenger loading/unloading, and getting on standby flights whenever possible.

We worked four 10s, and I did my best to take advantage of three-day weekends by exploring all over Southcentral AK. Some of my highlights included backpacking, hiking, and fishing for sockeye salmon during the salmon runs.

Alaska is truly a special place, and I can’t wait to return and check off some of my remaining bucket list items.
